We have taken a few minutes to catch up with Katie Fuller, a Mortgage Adviser who has been using us for over two years. Hear all about her job role as a Business Principle for MAB Mortgage Shop.
1. How long have you been a mortgage adviser?
I have been an adviser for 12 years now. I originally started as an estate agent negotiator for 2 years, and then moved into a trainee mortgage broker position in 2006. I completed my CeMAP in 6 months and then never looked back.
I was promoted to Business Principal in 2017 and we now have a team of 3 advisers and 3 administrators after expanding to our own MAB Mortgage Shop in January 2018.
2. Have you always known you wanted to work in the financial industry?
I had no clue what I wanted to do. However, I was always drawn to helping people so I have ended up doing that!
3. How long have you been using SortRefer?
I have been using SortRefer for over 2 years now. We have found the low cost remortgage options available for clients in lieu of lenders free legals works well for having more control over who the solicitors are that are allocated. The online system is simple and easy to use and having someone like SortRefer behind us has made it easier to offer our clients conveyancing options with confidence.
4. What do you most enjoy about your job?
Making people’s dreams come true regarding homes!
5. What’s the last thing you watched on TV (or film) and why did you choose to watch it?
The Handmaids Tale, as I have always enjoyed dystopian fiction.
6. What advice would you give to other mortgage brokers?
Treat your clients as individuals and do not underestimate the value of administrators to your business.
7. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spending time with family & friends, and having new experiences, especially listening to live music. I have two children aged 8 & 10 so they take up a fair amount of my time when I am not working!
8. Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
I am not sure there is anything, I am an open person. Some might say too open!
9. What’s the best advice you have ever received?
Do not worry about something you have no control over.
