From Events to Head of Marketing at SortRefer
Meet Emma Daley, Head of Marketing at SortRefer. A marketing department, may I add, that Emma built from scratch. When not at work, you’ll find her on long dog walks, cooking risotto or spending time planning her upcoming wedding with her fiancé. With a background in events and experience of working in the Midlands, Paris and Spain, Emma never settles for the same mundane lifestyle and doesn’t believe SortRefer should either.
Not working but creating
Since Emma joined the business in January 2015, it was her mission to build up the Marketing department from scratch. Creating social media, a portfolio of client facing documents and some exciting marketing campaigns (Halloween, Olympics, Christmas, Easter) are just some of the items she worked on. When SortRefer launched in 2009, it had already started winning awards, so Emma joined a company that was already on a journey. However, with the help of Emma, the journey has become sufficiently more expressive, indulgent and exciting.
Standing out from the crowd at SortRefer
Emma says:
“If we didn’t have a marketing department, we wouldn’t be able to share all of our products and services with our customers. We wouldn’t be able to engage with them on social media or create fantastic marketing campaigns. But most of all, our introducers wouldn’t know how amazing SortRefer is and that really would be a shame.”
Going into the unknown
One of the biggest changes Emma has noticed since joining is the number of people included in the tea round! Only kidding, there have been many changes, especially moving to a new, much larger office and the addition of more team members. A growing business means an increasing number of clients to please and to engage with. While it’s key to shout about what we do, it’s important to make sure everything we offer is relevant, useful and adds value at every touch point. That’s why you’ll find Emma assessing the industry, making sure our portal is the best it can be and making sure clients are happy at all times. Building a bridge from SortRefer to our clients is a task Emma started when she joined in 2015, although now she has a marketing executive, Chloe, to help her on her way.
