A big welcome to our newest member joining our team; Tom Brown who is our Apprentice IT Administrator working alongside our IT support team for Sort Group.

Now that Tom has settled into his new role, we took some time getting to know him better...

How have you found it at Sort Group so far?

Sort Group has been a friendly environment with staff events and good staff orientation.

What attracted you to joining our team?

When I came for my interview, the people who let me in were super nice and so were the staff who interviewed me.

What attracted you to going down the apprenticeship route?

Being able to gain certification for the industry I want to work in as well as being able to learn on the job instead of spending all my time in the classroom.

What did you do before joining Sort?

My most recent endeavour before joining Sort was working as an IT contractor for the NHS launching a trust-wide software.

Tell us something a few people know about you?

I love my music nearly as much as I love sharing. So much so that I recommend Lausse The Cat to a bartender in Corfu last time I was on holiday there!

What’s your favourite movie?

I’d say one of my favourite movies is Nausicaa Valley of the Wind, as it is beautifully animated and has a lovely message behind it.

Describe your dream day off.

My dream day off involves sleeping in getting up late eating lots of yummy food and spending time with the people I care about whether that’s family or friends.

How would your friends and family describe you?

My family and friends would probably describe me as overly social, a master of turning things off and on again and finally entertainingly weird with the sheer amount of random cods wallop I can come out with!

If you could make an office rule that everyone had to follow for a day, what would it be?

Doritos and dip on everyone’s desk!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

It’s a tie between Japan and Germany as they’re both interesting cultures for different reasons. They both have an interesting history as well as cool infrastructure i.e. Tokyo’s train network was part of a scientific experiment where they found out a brainless fungi was able to plan it more efficiently than the designers who had been paid to do it had!

Once again, a big welcome to Tom for joining our Sort family. We can't wait to see how your apprenticeship goes on.
