Roll Up, Roll Up, Read All About It! We have a new Business Development Manager for our South East Region; we're pleased to introduce to you all Simon Parish.
Simon has over 16 years of experience in the financial services industry, bringing a wealth of knowledge to our current and new brokers.
This week we caught up with Simon. In our insightful Q&A, we got to know Simon personally. We discussed everything from what he feels he can bring to SortRefer, hobbies, interests, and dad jokes.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
SortRefer has 19 different products to talk about - having this amount available for the brokers to help their clients earn extra income will be exciting for me to talk about. I am looking forward to visiting the brokers in my area to help them out with their cases.
What do you feel you could bring to SortRefer?
I have 16 years of experience in the financial services industry. I have a varied wealth of knowledge that I can bring to the table to help the brokers - new and old - with their cases. I started my career as a mortgage broker, so I understand the day-to-day issues/problems that can arise. I like to keep it simple, too. Saving the brokers and their clients time and helping them to complete their cases ASAP is something I am looking forward to helping them with.
What did you do before joining SortRefer?
I worked as a Regional Sales Manager for Paymentshield in the General Insurance area. I have also worked for Metro Bank as a Business Development Manager on the lending side.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Keeping fit, going to the gym (I have my gym at home, set up during the lockdown), I am also a black belt in Taekwondo. I am married with two sons who are both very sporty, so I stay fit to keep up.
Who inspires you?
I do not go for the usual famous sports stars/actors or politicians; I look at ordinary day-to-day people - anybody that is honest, helpful, and fun to be around, whether it's at work or personal time.
How would you describe your job to a bunch of five-year-olds?
Driving around, drinking coffee, handing out goodies (pens, travel mugs etc.) to lots of exciting people and having meetings.
Tell us something not many people know about you?
I spent a month in America (Virginia & Carolina) when I was 15 years old. It was a school exchange, and I drive my family mad to this day with stories about it (think Uncle Albert from only fools and horses)
How would your friends/family describe you?
I am loyal, good at pep talks, and I tell bad dad jokes.
If you could get a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?
To be able to fill potholes with the click of my fingers, preferably before I drive over them.
What was the first job you ever had?
Apprentice mechanic - I just liked wearing the overalls and tying the arms around my waist. I thought I looked good.
