Tell us more about your background? Have you always worked in Mortgages?
I have been in mortgages since about 1998. I started out working as a telephone-based mortgage adviser for Halifax. I worked in a call centre in Leeds, where I soon got a reputation for being someone who thought outside the box and was able to think of ways to get a case through rather than most of the other people I worked with, looking at how quickly they were able to get rid of the clients.
How long have you used SortRefer?
I have used SortRefer on and off over the years, but much more seriously over the last two years.
How do you benefit from a Business Development Manager?
We have had a couple of sticky cases over the last couple of years, especially during Covid-19. We thought utilising a BDM within SortRefer was great, as it was another layer between the customer, solicitor, broker and BDM. Our BDM helped us out by getting satisfactory outcomes for our clients.
What is your mission at Independent Mortgage Brokers?
There are too many potential homebuyers within the UK who struggle to find the right finance to become homeowners., buying a home and sorting a mortgage can be disheartening, frustrating and confusing. Independent Mortgage Brokers are here to solve that. We give people the tools, knowledge and expert support to help them secure the finance they need to realize their dream of homeownership.
How long has the business been running?
We have been trading as Independent Mortgage Brokers since Sept 2019. This was when we became Directly Authorized by the FCA.

That personal touch really, we leave no stone unturned, we search over 90 lenders and over 12000 products to secure deals for our clients. We specialize in the not straightforward. We consider the advice we provide as unbeatable. We are grown-up advisers offering grown-up tailored advice.
Would you recommend SortRefer to others? If so, why?
Yes, of course, the system is so easy to use, the solicitors on the panel in the main are excellent. There are a few not so great but easy to avoid. Pay on time, and we can get support from SortRefer if needed.
How do you benefit from using SortRefer?
The main benefit for us as a small company is an additional income stream. We were amazed at how easy it is to increase your case value with just a few simple clicks.
