This month, we’re shining spotlight on our Senior Marketing Executive, Amelia Holmes, who recently celebrated 5 years at Sort Group!

Since joining the marketing team in 2020, Amelia has played a key role in shaping our marketing campaigns, taking the lead on regional events and mentoring our very first marketing apprentice. However, it’s not just been events and campaigns that have made her journey. Over the past 5 years, she has grown alongside the business, embraced new challenges, and helped shape the marketing team for what it is today.

Amelia’s passion and dedication shine through all the work she does, and to celebrate this amazing milestone, we asked Amelia 5 questions for 5 years, to reflect on her journey, share her proudest moments, and give us a peek at what’s next in her career.

Going back to your first day at Sort, what’s one thing you never expected to become such a defining part of your journey?

It feels surreal looking back over the past 5 years and seeing how much has happened in that timeframe and seeing where I am today at Sort. I think to answer this question, I never expected myself to be this happy in a role, I work with great people and love doing what I do on a daily basis.

What has been the most rewarding moment for you during your 5 years?

There’s quite a lot of moments that I’ve found quite rewarding in my time at Sort. I think the most recent one would be training our apprentice, teaching her things that I was taught, watching her blossom and taking on her own marketing journey – it takes me back to when I was new to the marketing world.

You’ve seen both the business and team evolve. How has this experience shaped you as a senior member?

So much. I absolutely love the people who I work with and as much as I love learning about new skills and tools, there’s always so much to learn in this role and about the industry. This then sparks new ideas for campaigns, or how we can be more efficient in our roles.

If you could give your 5 year younger self advice, what would you say?

“You’ve got this, have more confidence in yourself.”

Looking to the future, what’s next for you in your career?

I’m currently happy with my Senior role, if there’s ever an opportunity to progress beyond Senior it would be a case of the right time for me. My next goal in my career is probably to continue venturing on the events path.

As we celebrate Amelia's time at Sort, here's what Emma Brown our Head of Marketing had to say:

"It's a pleasure to see how Amelia has grown in confidence and blossomed over the last five years. From a quiet, shy individual with low confidence, to our Senior Marketing Executive who leads our SortRefer regional events programme, our Sort Club loyalty scheme, and MANY other projects. Amelia carries out every project or task with the same level of organisation, detail and pride. I'm incredibly proud of everything Amelia has achieved during the past five years, and she has been an incredible support and pillar to the department. Here's to the next five! Well done Amelia!"
