Get to know James Mitchell, our Group Management Accountant! This week we caught up with James Mitchell, allowing him to share some insight into his essential role here at Sort Group. As he works for Group, he supports all of our brands (SortRefer, Sort Move and Sort Legal). We asked James everything about his previous experience, hobbies, and his new position within Sort Group.
What is your Job Title? Group Management Accountant
What did you do before joining Sort Group? I worked in a Bar and Restaurant in Burton, where I was a supervisor.
What is your new position in Sort Group? Can you explain your role to us? My role consists of various things in Sort Group, such as preparing the management accounts each month, processing the payroll, paying suppliers, dealing with the completions, and updating the company's cash flow.
What attracted you to Sort Group? I have worked at Sort for nearly three years, and I still enjoy it, the people I work with are great, and I appreciate all aspects of the job. I am continuing to learn new things every day.
How does your role help Sort Group's development? My role, aside from my AAT qualification, allows me to use my knowledge learned outside of the job in my day-to-day role.
Who inspires who? I don't have a specific person who inspires me, but I believe in working hard and completing any task to the best of my ability.
Describe your perfect day off? My perfect day off would be at the pub with my friends, drinking way too much!
Where would it be and why if you could go anywhere in the world for a holiday? I would love to travel around Asia and visit loads of different countries, which I will hopefully do one day.
Tell us something not many people know about you? I recently learned how to swim! It was a great experience, and I recently put it to use on my holiday to Spain.
