Mark Shelper is now a part of the SortRefer team! Mark has joined the team from Pepper Money and has 13 years’ experience as a field-based Business Development Manager, predominantly in the Specialist Mortgage sector, in addition to 5 years of self-employment as a mortgage broker.
Mark will now be the new Regional Account Manager for SortRefer in the South West Region.
As we all welcome Mark into the SortRefer family, we thought now would be a great time to get to know him a little more and chat about his previous roles and experience.

What made you want to join the SortRefer Team?
SortRefer has achieved so much already. I have heard and seen great things from the market regarding the system, products, services, and people. There is a huge ambition for the future, and I am looking forward to being part of a team contributing to further success.
You have 13 years’ experience as a Business Development Manager. How did that come about?
I got my first field BDM role 18 years ago while working for Bristol & West. I managed to get an internal promotion from a telephone sales role. I’ve always enjoyed working with people and finding solutions to different problems/scenarios. The BDM role suited me and my career aspirations.
As well as the BDM roles, you spent five years as a Mortgage Broker. How did you get into that?
It was a natural progression for me at the time. I had spent a lot of time working with mortgage intermediaries previously, and I learned a great deal from this.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to work in the property industry?
To expect some ups and downs along the way but keep going, you will find it a rewarding industry in many ways.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
I cannot give my secrets away – I like to maintain an element of mystery.
What are you looking forward to most about your new role?
The prospect of working within the intermediary market that I know, but with the fresh approach, SortRefer will enable me to provide.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like most sports, particularly football, Moto GP and F1. I also enjoy my family time and have two little girls that more than keep me occupied!
What is your favourite dish, and why?
I am not particularly fussy when it comes to food, and I like most things. My mum weaned me on Battenberg cake when I was a baby, so I have a real sweet tooth. One of my key strengths is that I can polish off most desserts in less than a minute.
