We can finally reveal our new logo, brand refresh and a new website that brings a modern new look to SortRefer. We thought it would be beneficial to share with you the reason behind this and outline what this means for you.
2009 - 2016
To give you some context, let’s start back at 2016. By this point, the website had been around since our 2009 launch, where it was market leading for its time. The design of the website was very striking with the use of dark colours as opposed to white with the addition of orange making our brand very recognisable. After years of business, with so many changes to the website and industry changes, the decision was made that it would be beneficial to build the website again completely from scratch in order to make our technology easier to customise in future. We’ve always continuously improved and made changes following broker feedback, but we needed a website that allowed us to push forward our proposition to the next level. We have multiple websites that needed to be worked on from our main customer-facing Sortrefer.co.uk, our internal CRM portal (that our in-house customer service team use), our sales portal and our corporate and supplier sites. Each of the website versions needed to be entirely rebuilt from scratch using new framework to allow us to use enhanced technology and provide a solution to all of the feedback we’ve collected over the years from our brokers.
A fresh new look
Whilst the website was being re-built, it made perfect sense to look at the brand itself. After many internal discussions, it was decided that a brand refresh would be the preferred option, as opposed to a full re-brand. The SortRefer name is well established in the industry, so we didn’t want to lose our identity that our customers have grown to love. With the logo, we decided to keep the hexagonal element to ensure it is still recognisable; but instead of a group of hexagons, we opted for a singular hexagon (that also can be viewed as a cube). The black/orange colour scheme of the website was reviewed and we opted for a brighter, fresher look with a white, navy and orange core palette, with other accent colours introduced (navy instead of black, as it’s less harsh on the eyes). The design element has also altered into a more illustrative route with more images to make the overall look more aesthetically pleasing.
The re-build
We looked carefully at the customer journey throughout our website and tried to keep it as similar as possible to the old website, so it’s still easy to use and recognisable for day to day use. Most aspects of the portal have stayed the same with a brand refresh, easier navigations and a few enhancements.
Ever since the decision was made to improve the website, our development team have been working hard putting all elements into place, both behind the scenes and front of house. Each page of the website has been reviewed and re-written if necessary and all marketing literature has been revised. The whole project including website re-build and brand refresh has been worked on in-house by our in-house development and marketing teams.
