Recent trade press has revealed that many surveying firms are struggling to cope with the current demand for their services. The problem is most acute in London and the South-East with reports that, with certain firms, it can take over 5 weeks to get a mortgage valuation done. The combined effects of a resurgent market following a long period of stagnation and the start of the holiday season mean that there is simply too much work for the number of surveyors they have available. At the time of writing both Connells and eSurv were ‘on hold’ in London’s SW15 postcode (meaning they weren’t taking any new instructions at all) according to Mortgage Strategy magazine.
