Samuel joins our IT development team as a Web Developer. We took the time to get to know Samuel a little better and find out how he’s getting on so far.
What was your first ever job?
My first ever job was at Tesco when I was 17 years old, I was there for 5 years on various departments and worked whilst I was at university to support myself financially.
What was your previous role before joining SortRefer?
Previously I’ve been working as a contractor for about 3 and a half years. 3 of those years were spent at Rolls Royce Submarines working as a project and data analyst for various projects within the company.
What are you looking forward to learning the most?
I’m really looking forward to enhancing my current web developing skills, I’m currently at a junior level and I’m excited to be part of a great development team who have vast amounts of knowledge.
What are your first impressions of the job role?
My first impressions of the job are that the development team are a great team to work with. Everyone has their own personality, they all get along and there’s a great energy and vibe in the office which makes my working day really enjoyable. I feel that there is a big learning curve in this role as SortRefer utilise numerous different software packages which I’m excited to learn and become an expert in.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love participating in a wide variety of sports like football and tennis, I’ve recently started boxing at my gym and train with previous British Champion Neville Brown on a weekly basis. Cooking and baking are strong passions of mine, I like to create my own recipes or adapt on other recipes I find. Video games are another hobby of mine, I built my own gaming PC so I can game at 4K and on occasion I upload gameplay videos to my YouTube channel. I also like to watch films and TV series I’m currently watching the OA on Netflix and my favourite films I’ve seen recently have to be the John Wick trilogy.
What is your favourite food?
I can’t live without Chocolate
What’s your favourite place you’ve ever visited?
I travelled to Paris on my own last year which was great, visiting the Louvre Museum was the highlight of my holiday, I’m a big fan of ancient history and being able to see artefacts that are over a 1000 years old with my own eyes was incredible.
