Equity Release Conveyancing

Equity release is becoming increasingly popular in the industry and allows your client to release funds from their home in form of a lump sum or drawdown facility without having to downsize or move house. They may need to access the capital from their home for a number of reasons; home improvements, to help family members or to make provisions for home care or retirement. At SortRefer, we provide the Conveyancing solution for your client’s Equity Release needs.

Equity Release Conveyancing

There are two parts to the legal process for Equity Release; 1) the legal work and 2) a face-to-face meeting. Once the case has been instructed, the Solicitor will work through their legal process and will draw up a written report which will explain the benefits and obligations to your client. After the report is drawn up, The Equity Release Council rules require that your client should have at least one face-to- face meeting; either with the Solicitor who provided the report, or another qualified Solicitor who can act on behalf of the firm who provided the report. The purpose of this meeting is to allow the customer to ask questions regarding the contract they are proposing to sign. The Solicitor will ensure that your customer understands the nature of the legal contract that is being committed to and once they are ready, they’ll be asked to provide identification and sign the acceptance form and an Equity Release Council Solicitor’s Certificate, which confirms that all key points have been discussed. At SortRefer, our Equity Release legal proposition offers both parts of the process* via a choice of three solicitors.

*N.B we have three Solicitors on panel. Both Equilaw and Poynton Law offer the face-to-face meeting on a nationwide basis.
